ABOUT YOGA :

Yoga originated in India approximately 6000 years ago. It is based on the knowledge that each one of us is an entity, not merely a collection of loosely connected parts. The body is dependant upon the mind for its successful working and the mind is affected by imperfections in the body. In yoga you do not perform exercises, you undertake postures. These postures relax your body into certain positions.

Through these postures the neuro-muscular system of the body is toned up and kept in full working order; the respiratory system is developed and controlled so that the blood stream is properly oxygenated and human vitality strengthened; the internal organs are helped in the necessary massaging process, which stimulates their correct functioning; the working of the joints and especially the muscular control of the spine is kept strong and supple.

These results cannot be achieved purely by physical means. The mind has to be trained to function in accord with body. In Yoga we use the breath as a bridge between the mind and the body. When you have developed control of both the mind and the body then comes the ability to deeply relax which is essential for the development of a happy mind and a healthy life. Once you have mastered the art of relaxation you can then move on to concentrating the mind so that we control our lives instead of our lives controlling us. After these things have been achieved the path is open to greater development leading to true personal fulfilment.

Yoga is a happy thing and it brings nothing but benefit if correctly practised. It take time to eliminate all our deeply rooted fears, stresses and inhibitions which have become part of our daily life .By practising yoga regularly you can expect to eliminate much illness, pain and worry. You can be sure of increased vitality and a daily sense of well-being and contentment with your life.
